JAY, Okla. - Mable Pauline (Currey) Castano, age 87, born December 13, 1914 in Grove, died Monday, March 11, 2002 at 12:25 p.m. at the Grove Nursing Center after a long illness. Mable is preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Clara Currey, her husband, Rudy Castano, one sister, Mattie Mae, and four brothers, Homer, Leslie, Harold and Johnny Currey. Mable moved to Flint, Mich., in 1930 and was later employed by General Motors at the AC Spark Plug facility. She retired in 1979, having been employed there for 32 years. After the death of her husband, Mable returned to Jay to be with her loved ones.
Survivors include: sister-in-law, Opal Currey; niece, Linda Robertson and husband, Jerry; niece, Maxine Jones and husband, Bill; nephew, Sam Moye and wife, Lona; several more nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mable's family will receive friends on Thursday, March 14, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel at Jay. Services will be Friday, March 15, at 2 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel in Jay. Mable will be laid to rest at Olympus Cemetery in Grove.
