Obituary:

JULY 30, 1912 ~ APRIL 10, 2012 (AGE 99)

Iola Mae "Doby" Penner passed away on April 10, 2012, at the age of 99 at the Grove Nursing Center in Grove, Oklahoma. She was born on July 30, 1912, in Orienta, Oklahoma to John and Goldie Crockett. At the age of 12 she traveled with her family to Grove in a covered wagon, a journey that took them three weeks. As a teenager, she moved to Fairview, Oklahoma where she met and later married Neal Penner. Together they had two sons, Riley of Enid and Larry and his wife Jerry of Jay, and one daughter, Linda Crossley and her husband Jerry of Grove. Iola became a beautician in 1959 in Miami, Oklahoma. In 1960, she moved to Grove where she continued working as a beautician. Later she was employed at Burlington Jean Factory in Grove and worked many years at the Fashion Outlet, until she retired in her 70's. She spent much of her time sewing and reading and was an avid gardener. She also had a sweet love for animals. She was known as "Doby" to her grandchildren and countless others who knew her. She was the true example of grace, wisdom and kindness and will forever be missed. Iola was preceded in death by her son, Riley Penner; sisters Ruby Lee Davidson and Neva McHane; three brothers Bill Crockett, John Lowell Crockett and her twin brother Harvey Crockett; and grandson, Chad Penner. Iola is survived by her son Larry Penner and his wife Jerry of Jay; daughter Linda Crossley and her husband Jerry of Grove, three brothers Dale Crockett and his wife Audrey of Wyoming, Gary Crockett and wife Jackie of Texas and Dr. Don Crockett and his wife Patti of Grove. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and a special friend, Mary Moorehead of Tahlequah. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Buzzard Cemetery with Reverend Linda Vernon officiating. Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma.
