BEULAH'S OBITUARY
Beulah Mae Shields, 90 years, of Anderson, Missouri, daughter of the late Harry and Laura (Thomas) Abercrombie, was born November 13, 1915 in Noel, Missouri. She departed this life on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at the Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri. Beulah has called McDonald County her home for over 90 years. In 1936 she was united in marriage to Russell W. Potarf and to this union four sons and three daughters were born. Throughout her life she was a hardworking and devoted homemaker to her husband and family. Russell preceded her in death in 1959. In 1963 she married Marvin Shields and together they shared 20 years before his passing in 1983. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and working crossword puzzles. Beulah followed the Baptist faith throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Russell Potarf and Marvin Shields; five brothers; one sister; a granddaughter, Debbie Gilbert; and a great grandson, Jason Potarf. Beulah is survived by four sons, Don Potarf and wife, Loretta, of Gravette, Arkansas, Bob Potarf of Lanagan, Missouri, Lawrence Potarf and wife, Verle, of Noel, Missouri, and Jay Potarf and wife, Christy, of Noel, Missouri; three daughters, Lucille Potarf of Anderson, Missouri, Ruby Cooper of Southwest City, Missouri, and Pat Salmon and husband, Joe, of Granby, Missouri; twenty grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; a sister, Irene Hall of Noel, Missouri; as well as a host of other family and friends. Funeral services for Beulah Mae Shields are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2006 in the Ozark Funeral Home Chapel in Anderson, Missouri with Pastor Ray Mayfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Olympus Cemetery near Grove, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. A memorial has been established and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
