Tree or Branch, Palm

PALM TREE OR PALM BRANCH - Trees are an enduring symbol of eternal life and protection, with their roots firmly in the ground and their canopy offering protection.  In Christianity, the palm branch is associated particularly with Palm Sunday, palm branches were waved at the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. Since a victory signals an end to a conflict or competition, the palm developed into a symbol of peace, where it is often associated with Paradise.  It was adopted into Christian iconography to represent the victory of martyrs, or the victory of the spirit over the flesh.

(KJV John 12:12-13) - On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,  (13) Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.
