MAY 30, 1908 ~ OCTOBER 19, 2008 (AGE 100)

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., at the Buzzard Cemetery, north of Grove on Wednesday, October 22, 2008. The viewing of the body will be at Ellis Family Funeral Home Tuesday evening October 21, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Frances (Fannie) Juanita Rhodes was born May 30, 1908, to Mr. and Mrs. William Rhodes in Grove, Oklahoma. She was primarily raised by her Aunt Naniah and Uncle George Cox. She attended the Grove School System where she eventually met her husband to be, Burhl Trenary. They were married on October 29, 1927. They were married for 78 years when Burhl passed away in 2006. Fannie was a member of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints. Fannie and Burhl had four children: Joan Kellenberger of Indianapolis, Indiana, deceased; Burhlene Trotter of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Bill Trenary, deceased; and G.W. Trenary of Miami, Oklahoma. They had the four children, 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Fannie worked for many years in downtown Grove. She worked at the Earl Rhodes Drug Store. Then it was the Claude Flowler Drug Store. And finally it was the Eugene Beauchamp Drug Store. Many kids that attended the Grove School System remember her in "the Drug Store", as that was where the kids all went after school or football practice. At the same time, her husband Burhl was custodian/electrician/plumber/painter, etc., for the Grove School System. Many, many kids remember Burhl and his pipe going up and down the halls at the school. A party was recently held for Fannie as she celebrated her 100th birthday. She had friends from across Oklahoma, Missouri and Indiana helping her celebrate her special day. Fannie was a 50- year member of the Grove Eastern Star. She was recently honored with membership into the Centurion Club. She enjoyed her Indian club and she and her daughter Joan would drive to Jay to learn Cherokee. She was a member of the Grove American Legion Auxiliary. She always enjoyed herself with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Fannie enjoyed her flowers, and many people throughout the year would come up to the old house and make the circle to "see Fannie's flowers". She was very good at cooking and canning foods. Fannie and Burhl Trenary, pioneer's in a true sense. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ellis Family Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma.
