Century Plant

CENTURY PLANT - Represents immortality and everlasting life.

Many Christian symbols have been appropriated because the qualities of the plant or animal are held up by the religion.  The century plant (Agave Americana) was mistakenly believed to live 100 years or more.  Because of that the misnamed "century plant" was adopted as a symbol of immortality. The plant actual lives 10 to 30 years.

Butterfly

BUTTERFLY - (The soul)  It is symbolic of the transformation and resurrection of Christ. The meaning is derived from the three stages of the life of the butterfly-the caterpillar, the chrysalis, and the butterfly. The three stages are symbols of life, death and resurrection.
