CIVIL WAR VETERAN -  The American Civil War was a civil war in the United States fought from 1861 to 1865. The Union faced secessionists in eleven Southern states known as the Confederate States of America. The Union won the war, which remains the bloodiest in U.S. history.

UNITED STATES NAVY (USN) -  The history of the United States Navy divides into two major periods: the "Old Navy", a small but respected force of sailing ships that was also notable for innovation in the use of ironclads during the American Civil War, and the "New Navy", the result of a modernization effort that began in the 1880s and made it the largest in the world by the 1920s.

United States Merchant Mariner (Merchant Marine)

UNITED STATES MERCHANT MARINER (MERCHANT MARINE) -  The United States Merchant Marine are United States civilian mariners and a fleet of U.S. civilian and federally owned merchant vessels.  These fleets are managed by either the government or private sector, and engage in commerce or transportation of goods and services in and out of the navigable waters of the United States.  The Merchant Marine is responsible for transporting cargo and passengers during peacetime.

UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS (USMC) -  The history of the United States Marine Corps (USMC) begins with the founding of the Continental Marines on November 10, 1775 to conduct ship-to-ship fighting, provide shipboard security and discipline enforcement, and assist in landing forces. Its mission evolved with changing military doctrine and foreign policy of the United States. Owing to the availability of Marine forces at sea, the United States Marine Corps has served in nearly every conflict in United States history.

Bobbers will be dropped from the air at the following locations:

Honey Creek
Sailboat Bridge
Shangri-La
Elk River

Retrieve the bobbers and turn them in at the Grand Lake Sports Center, 301 South Main Street and Grand Lake Casino Hwy 10 to win 100's of PRIZES donated by the Grand Lake areas merchant.

GRAND PRIZE IS $2,500 provided by Grand Lake Casino

August 23, 2016 is the last day to turn in bobbers.

The Army's primary responsibility has been the fighting of land battles and military occupation. The Corps of Engineers has a major role in controlling rivers inside the United States. The Continental Army was founded in response to a need for professional soldiery in the American Revolutionary War in order to fight the invading British Army.
