ANIMAL LICENSE TAG APPLICATION ON-LINE
It is the duty of every person owning or having in possession, within the city limits of Grove, any dog, cat, potbellied pig, domestic rabbit or ferret over the age of four (4) months, to obtain a license from the City Clerk and to pay the licensing fee herein provided.
EXEMPTION: The licensing requirement shall not apply to Animals being used by law enforcement agencies for law enforcement purposes or Animals belonging to visitors traveling through the city, while such animal is with its owner or keeper.
DOCUMENTATION NEEDED: Prior to licensing the owners of dog, cat or ferret must provide:
1. Proof of current rabies vaccination by a licensed veterinarian (vaccination must remain current during the licensing period of July 1 through June 30 of the licensing year).
2. Proof of animal being spayed or neutered by a licensed veterinarian (to be allowed to pay the reduced fee)
3. Proof of documentation of qualifying intact animal (to be allowed to pay the reduced fee)
DOCUMENTATION NEEDED: Prior to licensing the owners of potbellied pig or domestic rabbit must provide:
1. Proof of current certificate of examination from a licensed veterinarian certifying the animal is free from infectious diseases (certificate must remain current during the licensing period of July 1 through June 30 of the licensing year)
2. Proof of animal being spayed or neutered by a licensed veterinarian (to be allowed to pay the reduced fee)
LICENSE FEES:
1. Five dollars ($5.00) for each dog, cat, potbellied pig, domestic rabbit or ferret which has been spayed or neutered;
2. Ten dollars ($10.00) for each dog, cat, potbellied pig, domestic rabbit or ferret which HAS NOT been spayed or neutered;
3. One dollar ($1.00) for new license tag if the original is lost or destroyed;
If a dog, cat, potbellied pig, domestic rabbit or ferret owner provides proof from a veterinarian that their animal has been spayed or neutered within thirty (30) days of issuance of their license, a five dollar ($5.00) refund will be provided.
There will be NO CHARGE for the following animals:
A. Service Animals - trained by a licensed professional trainer, to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including, but not limited to, guiding individuals with impaired vision, alerting individuals with impaired hearing to intruders or sounds, providing minimal protection or rescue work, pulling a wheelchair or fetching dropped items. Owners of service animals must provide documentation that certifies the animal in questions is a qualified service animal and the animal must have a service animal license with a completed affidavit to qualify for this exemption.
B. Therapy Animals - trained by a licensed professional trainer, to provide affection and comfort to various members of the public, typically in facility settings such as hospitals, retirement homes and schools. A therapy animal has no special rights of access, except in those facilities where they are welcomed. They may not enter a business with "NO PETS" policies or accompany their handler in the cabin of airplanes regardless of their therapy animal designation. Owners of therapy animals must provide documentation that certifies the animal in question is a qualified therapy animal and the animal must have a therapy animal license with a completed affidavit to qualify for this exemption.
C. Older or Ill Health Animals - unable to be spayed or neutered without a high likelihood of suffering serious bodily harm or death due to age or infirmity. Written confirmation from a licensed veterinarian is required to qualify for this exemption.
The City of Grove is unable to take on-line payments at this time. You may submit your application and bring or mail your supporting documentation and payment to Grove City Hall, 104 W. 3rd, Grove, OK 74344. Please allow two (2) business days for processing. At time of payment, with supporting documentation the City of Grove shall furnish the registrant with a TAG which shall be securely and visibly attached to the collar of the dog, cat, potbellied pig or domestic rabbit. Tags for ferrets should be kept in a secure, readily available location.
This license shall be renewed/purchased and the license fees shall be paid annually on or before July 1 each following year.
