SDBA AND DRIVERS MAKES DONATION TO

                                                  CITY OF GROVE EMPLOYEE'S FAMILY

Following the final race being run, the water calming down, and when the final sun burned spectator had left the park, a driver's meeting was held.  At the meeting a SDBA representative announced that the volunteers working the launching and loading ramps plus trash patrol were City of Grove employees who had volunteered their time in support of a fellow employee whose nine year old son was recently diagnosed with brain cancer.  When SDBA heard about this unfortunate situation, they agreed to donate $2,000 to the family in exchange for the City of Grove volunteers working the event.  Hearing the story, the driver's 'passed the hat' to collect additional dollars to donate to the family, two drivers agreed to match whatever was collected, plus one driver signed over his winnings check to the family.   Over $7,000 was donated to the family, plus the young boy was given souvenirs and driver's autographs.

THANK YOU TO THE SOUTHERN DRAG BOAT ASSOCIATION AND DRIVERS!

The City of Grove and Grand Lake are looking forward to future SDBA events.
