Seal, State of Texas

STATE OF TEXAS SEAL -  The Seal of the State of Texas was adopted through the 1845 Texas Constitution, and was based on the seal of the Republic of Texas, which dates from January 25, 1839.  The seal of Texas has changed 5 times since independence from Mexico in 1836.  The original Great Seal of the Republic was created on December 10, 1836, by the Congress, with a bill providing that "for the future the national seal of this republic shall consist of a single star, with the letters 'Republic of Texas', circular on said seal, which seal shall also be circular".

United States Air Force

UNITED STATES AIR FORCE -  The United States Air Force (USAF) is the aerial warfare service branch of the United States Armed Forces and one of the seven American uniformed services.  Initially part of the United States Army, the USAF was formed as a separate branch of the military on September 18, 1947 under the National Security Act of 1947.   It is the most recent branch of the U.S. military to be formed, and is the largest and one of the world's most technologically advanced air forces.

Flag Emblem, Oklahoma

EMBLEM ON THE OKLAHOMA FLAG -  The current state flag of Oklahoma, designed by Louise Fluke, was adopted in 1925 (Oklahoma had 13 previous flags). The flag of the state of Oklahoma consists of a traditional Osage Nation buffalo-skin shield with seven eagle feathers on a sky blue field.

United States Military Airlift Command

MILITARY AIRLIFT COMMAND -  The Military Airlift Command (MAC) is an inactive United States Air Force major command (MAJCOM) that was headquartered at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.  Established on January 1, 1966, MAC was the primary strategic airlift organization of the Air Force until 1974, when Air Force tactical airlift units were merged into MAC to create a unified airlift organization.

Tree, Orange

ORANGE TREE -  The orange tree is regarded as a symbol of purity, chastity, and generosity.  Thus it is occasionally depicted in paintings of the Virgin Mary.  Its white flower is also used to suggest  purity, and for this reason orange blossoms are the traditional adornment of brides. 

Medal, of Freedom (Presidential)

PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM - The Presidential Medal of Freedom is an award bestowed by the President of the United States and is—along with the comparable Congressional Gold Medal—the highest civilian award of the United States.   It recognizes those people who have made "an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors".

United States Army Special Forces (Green Beret)

UNITED STATES SPECIAL FORCES (GREEN BERET) -  In the U.S. armed forces, the green beret may be worn only by soldiers awarded the Special Forces Tab, signifying they have been qualified as Special Forces (SF) soldiers. The Special Forces beret is officially designated "beret, man's, wool, rifle green, army shade 297."  U.S. Special Forces wear the green beret as a distinction of excellence and uniqueness within the Army.

Deo Vindice

DEO VINDICE -  Deo Vindice (English: Under God, our Vindicator) or (God will vindicate) was the motto of the Confederate States of America (CSA), and was engraved on their official seal.

Tribal, Chickasaw Nation

CHICKASAW NATION SEAL -  When the Chickasaw Nation was officially formed on March 4, 1856, in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, the Chickasaw people honored War Chief Tishomingo by representing him on the Great Seal of the Chickasaw Nation.  In addition, the figure represents the courageous Chickasaw people.  Following the Civil War, the Chickasaw people wrote a new constitution that was adopted on August 16, 1867.  The Great Seal of the Chickasaw Nation was affixed to all legal papers until the state of Oklahoma was formed in 1907.

Tribal, Cherokee Nation

CHEROKEE NATION TRIBAL SEAL - This seal, designed to embrace the early governmental structure, and the eternal endurance of the Cherokee Indians, was adopted by Act of the Cherokee National Council, and approved in 1871.  The seven-pointed star symbolizes: (1) the seven age-old clans of the Cherokees; (2) the seven characters of Sequoyah's syllabary, meaning "Cherokee Nation." (The Cherokee characters are phonetically pronounced "Tsa-la-gi-hi A-yi-li.")
