Yes. All Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Roofing contractors must be licensed by the State of Oklahoma and the City of Grove prior to commencing any work within Grove city limits..

Do I need a permit to construct or widen a Driveway?
Yes. A permit is required for the construction or widening of a driveway.

Is there a fine for beginning construction without a Permit?
Yes. A fine of up to three times the amount of the required Permit may be charged.

Anytime work is being done within the public right-of-way, particularly adding a driveway that is connecting to a City street.

When is a Building Permit required?
A Building Permit is required for any structural construction, alternation, remodel or reconstruction for residential, commercial and industrial including:
- Additions
- Interior remodeling which involves structural modifications
- Re-roofing and roofing projects
- Garages
- Carports
- Storage Sheds
- Storm Shelters
- Patios
- Decks
- Fence
- Pool
Activities exempt from Building Permits include painting, replacement of existing doors and windows of the same size and same operation.

When is a Mechanical Permit required?
Mechanical Permits are required for the installation, alteration or replacement of any mechanical system including but not limited to
- Ventilation and exhaust systems
- Duct systems
- Combustion air
- Chimneys and vents
- Certain appliances
- Fireplaces, and solid fuel-burning equipment
- Boilers
- Water heaters
- Pressure vessels
- Refrigeration systems

When is a Plumbing Permit required?
Plumbing Permits are required for the installation of any plumbing work, except repairs involving only the working parts of a faucet or valve, the clearance of a stoppage, repairing leaks or replacement of defective faucets or valves provided no changes are made in the piping to the fixtures.

When is a Sign Permit required?
A Sign Permit is required for the installation or replacement of a Commercial Sign. A Sign Permit is not required for general maintenance or repair on an existing sign as long as the size or structure of the sign is not altered.

When is an Electrical Permit required?
Electrical Permits are required for installation, alteration or replacement of any electrical wiring, electrical systems or electrical devices, including but not limited to the installation of alteration of any wires or conductors for the transmission of electricity, as well as the installation or alteration of any electric fixtures, apparatus, or appliances, whether used for light, heat, or power purposes.
